  • Sunday Forum A: “Matteo Ricci: The First to bring Christianity to China” with Deacon Robert Henry

    The remarkable and inspiring story of how, after a twenty-year journey through China’s ancient heartland, Ricci became the first Westerner welcomed into the Forbidden City— and earned lasting admiration as a Confucian scholar. 

    Greenwich resident Robert Henrey is an Oxford graduate and former head of Coopers & Lybrand’s International Tax Consulting Practice. He and his wife have lived and traveled extensively throughout Asia, deepening his lifelong interests in linguistics, history, and comparative religion. Ordained a deacon more than forty years ago, he continues his ministry with Saint Catherine’s in Riverside while writing and lecturing, including his recent work Shen’s Unlikely Journey.

  • Sunday Forum B: “Church Seating - traditions, sentiment, solutions” with Luke Hughes

    Please join us for a discussion about how church seating has evolved over the last 500 years and may evolve in the future!

    Luke Hughes studied History of Architecture at Cambridge University and has, for the last 45 years, specialized in designing and making furniture for sensitive architectural settings. These include 62 Oxford and Cambridge colleges, Yale, Harvard and Georgetown Universities, 28 cathedrals, more than 150 parish churches and nine synagogues in the United Kingdom and the United States.

    Luke designed new furniture for the UK Supreme Court in 2009, the clergy furniture that sits over the Cosmati Pavement (and used for the Coronation) in Westminster Abbey, as well as the new furnishings for the Chapels of Saint John and Saint Peter ad Vincula in the Tower of London.

    Luke is assisting Christ Church and Centerbrook Architects explore furniture options for the Chapel renovation, as well as for the conversion of the Parish House into the Center for Music and Youth.

    Nicholas Burns served as U.S. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China from 2021–2025. He will discuss the many challenges in our highly competitive relationship with Xi Jinping’s China. Ambassador Burns has had a long career in American diplomacy as a career Foreign Service Officer serving six Presidents and nine Secretaries of State from both parties.     Join the Arts & the Spirit Committee to create your own prayer aid representing the 40 days of Lent. We will offer a variety of beads and prayers so you may select your own set!     Guest Preacher Bishop Michael Curry, Theologian-in-Residence. The most holy three days of the Christian calendar (the Triduum) begins at nightfall with this powerful service in which we remember Christ’s final meal with his disciples, the washing of their feet, and his anguished prayers in the garden of Gethsemane. Sung by the St Cecilia Choir of Girls and Altos from the Choir of Men & Boys, with music by Fauré, Duruflé, and Jamie Hitel.

    The St Cecilia Choir of Girls concludes the Three Hours with this moving setting of the medieval poem ‘Stabat Mater’, set to music by Pergolesi. The girls will be accompanied by baroque strings and continuo.

    One of the most ancient liturgies of the church, we commemorate the resurrection of Christ by igniting the new Easter (paschal) flame; hearing the stories of God’s saving love through the generations; baptizing new Christians; and celebrating the first Eucharist of Easter. Begin the service outside for the lighting of the fire. The Christ Church Singers sing for the lighting of the Easter fire and the first Eucharist of Easter. Music includes a mass setting by Leighton, and anthems by Claude Means and Richard Shepherd

    Professor Susan Herbst is a University Professor of Political Science and President Emeritus at the University of Connecticut. A noted scholar of public opinion, media, and American politics, she has authored multiple books and previously held senior academic leadership roles, including Executive Vice Chancellor of the University System of Georgia.

Professor Joel Baden is a leading scholar of the Hebrew Bible and Old Testament at Yale Divinity School. He is the author of numerous books and articles that illuminate how the Bible was written, edited, and interpreted. 

  • Wild Wonder Nature Camp Registration is Open!

    Ages 2 yrs - 3rd grade
    June 15-19 and/or June 22-26

    At Wild Wonder Nature Camp, kids will explore the world through nature, art, science, faith, music and fun outdoors on our beautiful 10-acre campus! We also have indoor, air-conditioned rooms for children to cool down on hot summer days.

    Our counselors are Certified Full-time Nursery School Teachers with years of experience. We offer daily art, sports, music, water play, and nature activities for children. Space fills up quickly so please register your child for one or two weeks as soon as possible.
