We believe that children begin their spiritual journeys at a very early age, and we act in partnership with parents and our worship community to create an engaging, nurturing environment for Christian formation.
We provide Child Care for infants while their parents participate in worship services or Adult Education Classes. Some children meet their first church friends in Child Care, and they continue to grow together through Confirmation and beyond.
Preschool and kindergarten-age children attend their own worship service in the Family Room, which takes place in parallel with the 9:15 am “grown-up” service. The children sing songs, listen to Bible stories and pray together before joining their parents (and their parish family) in the Sanctuary for the celebration of Holy Eucharist. Another service tailored to the needs and interests of children in first through third grades is held in the chapel during this time period. These students also join the main service for the celebration of Holy Eucharist.
This fall, we will be re-instituting our Children’s Service in the Chapel for all children, grades 1 - 5. At this service, they will sing songs, listen to the gospel reading of the day, hear some words from the priest, do age appropriate prayers, and from time to time have their own instructed eucharist with one of our clergy. This service will run concurrently with the adult service in the church, and the children will return to their parents at the peace.
Immediately following the 9:15 am service, Church School classes for children in pre-school through grade five begin in the Education Building.
Other education and formation opportunities include a variety of choir programs, the acolyte troop, Family Communion Class, and the Annual Christmas Pageant.
