The Red Wagon is here!

On Sundays during the 10:00 am service, a red wagon will be stationed at the entry to the Chapel.  Parishioners are asked to bring items of food and place them in the red wagon.

Once the wagon is full of your donations it will be brought to the altar as part of the offertory.  After the service, food donations will be delivered to Neighbor to Neighbor and, if we are able to satisfy all of Neighbor to Neighbor’s needs, to the Fairfield County Food Bank.

From time to time, we will publish a list of specific types of food requested by Neighbor to Neighbor.  However, feel free to bring any non-perishable food that you yourself would enjoy eating.

Food has long been a serious problem for the needy in Greenwich.  The 2006 Assessment of Human Service Needs for Greenwich prepared by the United Way of Greenwich Community Planning Council found that the numbers of individuals and families needing assistance with food and clothing is consistently increasing, but the ability to meet these needs has declined from 2002 to 2006.

The rise in food prices worldwide has only intensified the plight of our Town’s needier neighbors.  What can we do?  Get on board the Red Wagon and help your neighbor.
