An introduction

We believe that children begin their spiritual journeys at a very early age, and we act in partnership with parents and our worship community to create an engaging, nurturing environment for Christian formation.

We provide Child Care for infants while their parents participate in worship services or adult education classes.  We are blessed with a loving Child Care staff who have been attending to the needs of our children for the past several years.  Some children meet their first church friends in Child Care, and they continue to grow together through Confirmation and beyond.

Preschool and kindergarten-age children attend their own worship service in the Family Room, which takes place in parallel with the 9:00 AM “grown-up” service.  The children sing songs, listen to Bible stories and pray together before joining their parents (and their parish family) in the sanctuary for the celebration of Holy Eucharist.  Another service tailored to the needs and interests of children in grades 1 through 3 is held in the chapel during this time period.  These students also join the main service for the celebration of Holy Eucharist

Immediately following the 9:00 AM service, Church School classes for children in pre-school through grade 5 begin in the Education Building.  Upon reaching grade 6, children become eligible to participate in our many Youth Ministries activities.

Other education and formation opportunities include a variety of choir programs, the acolyte corps, Family Communion class, the Annual Christmas Pageant, and training to become a Youth Lay Eucharistic Minister, Youth Lay Reader, or Lector.  (A Lector reads the Scripture lessons during a worship service; a Lay Reader is licensed by the Bishop to read Scripture and to lead the intercessions during the Eucharist and Morning and Evening Prayer.  Our Youth Lay Readers serve their community in a variety of settings, including nursing homes and visits with homebound parishioners.

And we haven’t forgotten those very important people in our children’s lives – parents!  Parents are welcome to participate in a range of classes and activities, including a 10:10 AM Adult Christian Formation offering held in the Parish Hall, a class called “Family Matters,” and a Bible-based discussion group for parents of young families

We invite you and your children to be with us on Sunday mornings and to join in the fun and fellowship!
