Susie truly has God’s gift with children. You can witness it as she sits in Children’s Chapel on Sundays, asking the youngest who they want to pray for today, or explaining what a baptism is. As both a mother and a deeply religious leader, she is committed to helping young families grow, knowing they are not alone in this evolving world, teaching the ability to ask for help when necessary, and seeing their parents answer to a higher power.

At Christ Church we believe that raising children with faith powerfully affects their overall well being now and for their future. As a church community, we have invested in our Children and Youth Ministries. We feel strongly that now, more than ever, people need the support of a spiritual family.

Deacon Susie comes to Christ Church after thirteen years at the Church of St. James the Less in Scarsdale, where she was the Associate for Spiritual Life and Family Ministry. She planned, trained, organized, and promoted Christian Education, Bible studies, pastoral care, worship groups, and served as Nursery School Chaplain.  She has also served as the Director of Christian Formation at Rye Presbyterian Church, and St. Thomas Church in Mamaroneck. Susie received her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from Bank Street College of Education, NYC.

She was ordained a Deacon in the Diocese of NY in 2019. She and her husband Charlie have three grown children and a Cockapoo named Penny. With a lifelong career in children’s Christian education, we feel she is the perfect person to be here with us, not only with the youngest, but also as a minister to families as well.
