Adult Education
The Exploration Series: What Matters
Nourishment for the Journey is a very fitting focus for Christ Church Greenwich this year. In September we begin a new adult formation class, The Exploration Series: finding new ways to nourish your faith, and introduce a new title: What Matters.
Where am I on the journey and what do I need to explore and strengthen my relationship with Faith, Family, Church, Community and Self? We begin with Faith:
Sunday, September 14: Faith and an overview of the scope and goals of adult education. The Rev’d Dr. Jim Lemler will lead us in a discussion of How Learning Keeps us Alive and Life Investment Principles. How do we “invest” our time and talent to nourish our spirit on the journey?
Sunday, September 21: We welcome Rabbi Mitch Hurvitz from Temple Sholom to speak about Doubts and Uncertainties and how doubt, the other side of the faith coin, can strengthen our journey.
Sunday, September 28: Emilie Townes, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Yale Divinity School, will address us on Faith and Citizenship. She will explore how personal faith and ethics intersect in the civic arena. She writes of her time with us: As people of faith who must live our lives not always comforted by the Holy but haunted by God’s call to us to live a pastoral and prophetic life, we will explore how we can build faith-filled responses to the great issues of our day with a spirituality that will not let go of that relentless justice that can only come from God.
