The St. Nicholas Choir consists of boys and girls in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. The Choir sings on the first Sunday of each month, October through May and at special Family Services on weekday Holy Days during the year. Rehearsals are on Thursdays, from 3:45pm-4:30pm. Junior hand bells and rhythm instruments are used.
Choir of Men & Boys
Founded in 1934, the Choir of Men and Boys serves as the principal choir for the 11:00 am service each Sunday. The choir consists of boys from 2nd through 8th grade, professionals from the New York metropolitan area, and auditioned volunteers. In 2008 the Choir of Men and Boys traveled to England, where venues included St John’s College, Cambridge and St Paul’s Cathedral, London.
St Cecilia Choir of Girls
The St. Cecilia Choir of Girls serves as the principal choir for the 9:15am service each Sunday. The choir consists of girls from 3rd grade through high school seniors. The St. Cecilia Choir of Girls traveled to England for 12 days in July 2010, singing services in Exeter Cathedral and St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. Girl and boy choristers combined for a highly successful tour of England in the summer of 2012, where they spent a week singing services at York Minster, as well as singing at Coventry Cathedral and touring significant historical sites. In November 2013, the girls joined with treble voice of the Christ Church Singers and guest musicians in a liturgical performance of David Bednall's Requiem.Click hereto see musical highlights of this performance and others.
Christ Church Singers
The Christ Church Singers consists of mixed auditioned adults and teens, with professionals from the New York metropolitan area. It provides music for the Choral Eucharist on the third Sunday of each month, as well as singing at special services and concerts throughout the church year. The repertoire includes masses from the Viennese school and larger-scale works. An annual Requiem Mass is performed in November of each year. Teen Scholars Choir
The Teen Scholars Choir is a group of auditioned men, boys and girls, which sings Choral Eucharist on the first Sunday of every month.
Comprised of volunteers, the Compline Choir provides a twenty minute service of sung prayers on Sundays at 6:00 pm. The simple act of praying in community is made even more magical by sitting in a quiet space, dimly lit with twinkling votives, surrounded by the fragrance of incense and the pure tone of a choir chanting the ancient words of prayer.
